Here are the supplies that you will need for this workshop:
Bargello Pillow |
For the workshop, you will need 2.5 inch strips. You can use a Jelly Roll or you can cut your own. It works best to use batiks, small prints or "nothing" prints (that look like a solid from a distance) for this technique.
If you wish to make a 16 inch pillow, you will need 8 strips cut selvage to selvage. For an 18 inch pillow, you will need 9 strips, cut selvage to selvage.
Sew these strips together using 1/4 inch seam allowance, lengthwise, making sure to alternate contrasting colors. You may repeat colors or they may all be different. You will be making a strata.

Press all the seams the same direction on the wrong side, then from the right side, making sure to press nice and flat. (No chicken lips!) After pressing, sew the first and last pieces of fabric together forming a tube. Press this seam, matching the direction of the rest of the seams.
Please have this tube ready for the workshop on June 19 so that we can start cutting, adjusting and sewing right away.

You will also need a sewing machine and your usual sewing kit and cutting tools.

* Don't forget to bring your Traveling Round Robin blocks to exchange, if you are taking part in that activity.
