More Reminders!

Reminder #1 - Friday, Feb. 20th - At the workshop, we will be exchanging our boxes for the Traveling Round Robin.  In your box, you should have all of the fabrics you've selected, the block you've chosen made of your fabrics, and all the other "ingredients".  The next swap will be at the March meeting, Friday, March 6th.

Reminder #2 - Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 am - We will meet at the Sears parking lot in Enumclaw to carpool to the Kitsap Quilters' quilt show in Bremerton.  Please click here then scroll down to Upcoming  Quilt Shows & Events for more info on this quilt show.

Crystal Quilters Workshop reminder

Don't Forget: This Friday, Feb. 20th at 1:00 pm  is our workshop on Strings.  We will be in our usual meeting place, the Buckley fire station, 611 S. Division St., Buckley,

We'll be playing "Strip Poker" with our strips, so be sure to bring some fabric strips.  They should be width of fabric and 2 1/2 inches wide.

We will also use any size strip, cut width of fabric or less, and from 3/4 inch up to 4 or 5 inches wide, for making some sample string piecing.  Please bring your sewing machine and workshop sewing kit.

For those that don't want to participate, you're welcome to come and work on your own project as well.

Crystal Quilters Workshop Information & Supply List

Wednesday, Feb. 18 - 10 am to 2 pm. at the Enumclaw Library, 1700 1st St.  Fusible "Kokio" class by Dee Brown of The Quilted Trillium.  The cost of the class is $40, payable to Crystal Quilters, with a $7 kit fee (kit includes fabric, batting and backing) going to the instructor.

(Judy needs a headcount to let Dee know how many kits to bring to the class.)

The supplies you need to bring to class are:

* Small, sharp scissors
* 8 1/2 x 11 inch Lite Steam-a-Seam II (no substitutions) - Judy will have some for those who need it.
* Teflon applique pressing sheet
* Sewing machine capable of free motion sewing, with light neutral bobbin thread
* Optional items: tweezers, personal ironing station (less than 200 watts)
* a lunch

Workshop Information

Thursday, Feb. 12 - Jaimie Davie of Loopy Tulips (www.loopytulips.com) will be giving a workshop for Quilters Anonymous quilt guild on "Beginning Baltimore" applique.  There is still room in the class and Crystal Quilters are invited to participate.  

The cost of the class is $40, and the times are 9 am to 4 pm (with setup starting at 8:30 am).  If you are interested in attending this class, please send an email to diane.hurley(at)comcast(dot)net.  

The class will be held at Ronald United Methodist Church, 17839 Aurora Ave. North, Shoreline, WA.  (Parking is accessed off Linden Ave, N, behind the church)

Crystal Quilters Calendar - February 2015

Friday, Feb. 6 - 11:30 am - Lunch will be at Bangkok Thai resaurant, 1240 Griffin Ave., Enumclaw.
1:00 pm - General Guild meeting at the Buckley Fire Station, 611 S. Division St., Buckley. 

The agenda for the meeting will be available at the meeting.

If you haven't already turned them in, please bring your finished half-square triangles trimmed to 2 1/2 inches square, made of the squares we traded at the January meeting.

There will be a discussion of Friendship and String Quilts at the meeting.  There will also be a short demo by Judy on the cleaning and repair of Vintage sewing machines. Bring your Featherweight machine to the meeting for assistance.

Please consider bringing one, two or more Friendship, Star or Basket blocks to contribute to our 2015 raffle quilt with the theme of Friendship.  Your choice of block pattern, size and fabric/color.  Wynonna and Vonda will be assembling the quilt.  Blocks MUST be turned in at the Feb. 6th meeting!

Don't forget:
* to wear your nametag at the meeting!
* it's recommended that each member donate at least one Comfort Quilt this year.  See the newsletter for the recommended sizes.

Crystal Quilters' Calendar - January 2015



Friday, January 9 - 11:30 am.  Lunch will be at The Mint this month.  1608 Cole Street, Enumclaw.
1:00 pm - General Guild meeting at the Buckley Fire Station, 611 S. Division St., Buckley. 

* If you haven't paid yet, membership dues are due at the January meeting.

* We will have the election of our new officers.

* Please bring 2 identical 5 3/4 inch squares of fabric.  Both fabric squares should have an X marked corner to corner on the wrong side of the fabric.  The color of fabric should start with the same letter as your first name - in other words, Carol would bring a Cherry red fabric or a Creamy White or even Coffee-with-cream tan fabric.  Mona would bring a Mink brown fabric, Mouse grey fabric or Marvelous purple.  Get creative!  (and if you get stumped, read the names of the colors in your box of Crayola crayons!)  We will be making a quilt together with these fabrics.  If possible, please bring a rotary cutter and small cutting mat.  

* We will have the drawing for the Guild Raffle Quilt.

Friday, January 16 - 1:00 pm - Guild Workshop at the Buckley Fire Station, 611 S. Division St., Buckley.  This month's workshop will be on finishing up the Blocks of the Month from 2014, working on "our" quilt using the squares we brought to the Jan 9th meeting, or working on your own project.

Crystal Quilters' Calendar December 2014

Friday, Dec. 5 - 11:30 am - Crystal Quilters' Annual Christmas Potluck and Party plus a General Guild meeting at the Buckley Fire Station, 611 S. Division St., Buckley.  We will eat at 12 noon.  Bring a dish to share and two fat quarters in a plain brown sack for a fun gift exchange.

* With your dish to share, please list the ingredients for those allergic to foods.

* Also, please bring a canned food donation for the Food Bank.

* We will hold the drawing for the guild's Opportunity Quilt this month .  Due to extenuating circumstances, the drawing has been postponed until the January guild meeting.

*  Please, don't forget to wear your name badge!
